Tom's Shoes going one for one

I know you have heard of TOMS Shoes, and your probably woundering what is so great about them. Right? No worries, I was in that same boat about six months back. As horrible as it is to say, my first encounter with Tom's Shoes was not a good one. A friend and I were approached by a girl that neither of us knew. Which is usually with us, we like meeting new people. This time, However, it was very not ok with us. First she asked us if we had ever heard of Tom's Shoes (sounds normal so far), but when our answers were both "no" she proceeded to take her shoe off and shove it just inches from our faces so we could read the inside of her shoe.
